Dar Al-Consul (DAC)
The Dar Al-Consul (DAC) complex stands at the crossroads of history. Situated in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, every layer of the complex is peppered with the historical richness of the Old City: its foundations established during the Mamluk period, its arched halls previously housing the Prussian Consulate, and its rooftop presently home to multiple families, the DAC complex is a living embodiment of Jerusalem’s enduring richness.
Purpose
To influence, inspire action and be a champion for the Palestinian narrative and cultural world; to serve as a forum for our diverse communities; to promote learning by sharing the history and stories of the unique collection Dar Al-Consul cares for; to create knowledge that contributes to a better future; and to empower the ‘Living Stones’ and Jerusalem community for generations to come. DAC’s primary goal is to connect with its visitors of all persuasions – from local Jerusalemites, to the expatriate professional community, to foreign international travelers – in a way that is intriguing, relevant, and inspirational, transforming Dar Al-Consul and the experiences it offers into an integral vista into the city of Jerusalem for all its relevant constituencies.
Mission
DAC’s mission is to be a hub for Palestinian culture and society – more specifically, DAC’s mission is to be the leading, Palestinian-focused attraction in the Old City of Jerusalem, inspiring visitors and residents alike. To that end, DAC strives to offer products that stand alone unparalleled in the marketplace, and that emphasize the historical and cultural legacy of Jerusalem instilling a culture of care and empowerment, providing hope for a revitalized Jerusalem in the process.
