Dr. Samer Jarrar

Samer has a PhD in Plant Virology from the University of Bari in Italy, and MSc and DSPU in integrated Pest Management from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari in Italy. His first-degree (B.Sc.) was in Plant Production and Protection from the University of Hebron in Palestine. In October 2018 he joined the team of Palestine Academy of Science and Technology (PALAST) as Vice President for Planning and Projects Management, Samer has worked as a freelance consultant for local and international Organizations as USAID, EU, PALTRADE, as well as for different Palestinian private agri-business companies, the last assignment was one-year consultancy with the Douche Maastricht School of Management as a senior consultant and advisor for the steering committee of the Palestinian Academic Agri-business Cooperation project (targeting four Palestinian universities in West Bank). From 2014 – 2017 he was the Director of the Canaan Center for Organic Research and Extension (CORE) in Palestine. From 2002 ‐ 2014 he worked as a researcher and assistant to the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Projects management in Bari, Italy (CIHEAM ‐IAM Bari). From 2000 to 2002 he worked in the Palestinian Ministry of Education & Higher Education as a head of the Agricultural Vocational Education Department. The first three years in his career life he worked in some local NGOs as coordinator for agricultural and rural developmental projects, also he has teaching experience and research supervising in local and international universities and research centers.
His areas of interest are; plant pathology, agro-ecology and organic farming, sustainable agriculture and rural development, cooperation and project management, Planning.
